The University Grants Commission (UGC) has gone all winds against the universities and has made it clear that they would stop the General Development Grant to those universities who would not fill up their faculty vacancies before the start of the next academic session. The central universities at this moment have over 6,000 vacancies that are to be filled.
Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM-A) has announced a steep rise in their fees for their flagship courses. The fee hike could range from Rs. 1.9 lakh to 2.5 lakh depending on the different courses offered by the institution. The new fee structure would be implemented from the next academic session of 2015-17.
The Andhra Pradesh government has recently given approval to a proposal dealing with renewal of the education system which would include changes in syllabi at various schools, colleges and technical institutions and universities. The news was disclosed by Information and Technology Minister Palle Raghunatha Reddy after the cabinet meeting was concluded.
Those students, who will give away their 10th or 12th standard examinations in February-March 2016, would have to face the new tougher passing rules taken up by the Maharashtra State Board. According to the new rule the students would now have to score the written exam cut off of 20% (at least 16 marks in an 80 marks written question paper) marks along with the 35% marks in aggregate to pass in a certain subject.
India is all set to get the new IITs in collaboration with the German Government. In a recent meeting held by India-German joint working group on education on 18 November 2014, the proposal to set up IITs like IIT-Madras and Mandi along with other learning institutions was proposed.

In a circular from the Indian Banks Association (IBA), the central government has asked all the banks to submit their claims for interest subsidy on educational loans taken up by the students who belong to scheduled cast or scheduled tribe communities. Under the scheme that would subsidize the interest, the central government would reimburse the banks the interest that is due on the loan amount till the end of one year from the date of completion of the course.

India sent over 1 lakh students to US in 2013-14 and remained at the second spot in terms of number of students in US.
