Piece (पीस) एवं Peace

(पीस) इन दोनों शब्दों के उच्चारण में कोई अन्तर नहीं है परन्तु इनके अर्थ एवं प्रयोग मे काफी अन्तर है। Piece का अर्थ है अंश, भाग, खंड, वस्तु, टुकडा, an amount of something that has been separated from the main part. Everyone was offered a piece of cake. सबको केक का टुकडा प्रदान किया गया। Peace का अर्थ है शांति, सुलह, चैन, अमन, समझौता,a situation or a period of time in which there is no war or violence in a country or an area. Most people would like to see a time when the world is completely at peace. अधिकतर लोग ऐसा समय देखना चाहते हैं जब विश्व मे पूर्ण रूप से शांति हो।

Peak एवं Peek

Peak (पीक) एव Peek (पीक) इन दोनों शब्दों के उच्चारण में कोई अन्तर नहीं है परन्तु इनके अर्थ एवं प्रयोग में काफी अन्तर है। Peak का अर्थ चोटी, नोक, पहाड की चोटी, the time when something or someone is best, greatest, highest, most successful etc. The British Empire was at its peak in the mid 19th century. ब्रिटिश साम्राज्य 19वीं सदी के मध्य में चोटी पर था। Peek का अर्थ है झांकना, झलक,to look quickly at something, or to look at something from behind something else, especially something that you are not supposed to see. He peeked through the window.उसने खिडकी से बाहर झांका।

Parameter एवं Perimeter

Parameter (पेरामीटर) एवं Perimeter (पेरीमीटर) ये दोनों शब्द एक ही वर्ड फैमिली के हैं परन्तु इन दोनों के prefix में अन्तर होने के कारण इनके उच्चारण, अर्थ एवं प्रयोग में अन्तर है। Paramete का अर्थ है मापदंड, मानदंड, a set of fixed limits that control the way that something should be done. The inquiry has to stay within the parameters laid down by the department. विभाग के द्वारा तय किये गये मापदंड के अनुसार ही जांच होनी चाहिए Perimeter का अर्थ है परिधि, परिमाप, घेरेवाली रेखा, circumference, border, margin. Protesters cut a hole in the perimeter fence. प्रदर्शनकारियों ने घेरे मे छेद कर डाला।

Pasture एवं Pastor

Pasture (पास्चर) Pastor (पास्टर) इन दोनों शब्दों के उच्चारण में बारीक अन्तर है परन्तु इनके अर्थ एवं प्रयोग में काफी अन्तर है। Pasture का अर्थ है चारागाह, चारा, चराना, grazing land, to graze. The goats were grazing in the pasture. बकरियां चारागाह में चर रही थीं। He went to pasture his cows. वह गाय चराने के लिए गया था। Pastors का अर्थ है पादरी, A person authorized to conduct religious worship.
