College life comes posing many challenges in a student's life. For most students it is the first time they move out of their homes and are responsible for managing everything on  their own. From allocating the budget to making payments of various services on time, to doing their own laundry they even have to figure out the food options available to them.

Most of them prefer eating out, something new, something interesting every day.  To say that they have been waiting for this very opportunity for a long time won't be wrong. College students have a variety of food options to satisfy their palate. Sometimes eating unhealthy food they fall sick, missing out on lectures and important topics in class. Which in turn hampers their academic performance.What most students fail to realize is that for a student study and food go hand in hand. Healthy food is the key to a healthy mind.

Healthy, nutritious food helps improve their focus, concentration, memory and also their immune system. But the major problem again arises that they are staying away from home and food options available to them though are many but healthier options are very few. Hence, we compiled a list of easily available healthy food options that satisfy the students tingling taste buds also at the same time.

Stuffed Paranthas

From your college canteen to the dhabas in the vicinity of your campus or even your place of residence you will find stuffed paranthas everywhere. Paranthas with the stuffing of aloo, payaaz, egg, paneer etc. are widely served with curd and pickle but mostly butter. Be it breakfast, lunch or dinner paranthas can be eaten in any of the meals. Not to say have 2-3 stuffed paranthas in breakfast and you'd be full till lunch time.

Milk, Shakes and Juices

All these are easily available at any dairy shop, cafes or even grocery stores. You can buy packaged bottles or tetra packs of them and keep them at your place if you have an access to a refrigerator. All these items will also be available fresh in your college canteens. Almost every market place today has a fresh juice corner where you easily get fresh juices and sometimes even milkshake. These drinks help maintain your body metabolism and keep you active throughout the day.

Eggs

For those who eat eggs they are easily available at many road side dhabas and food stalls. Especially in winter times one can easily spot a road side stall selling boiled eggs, egg rolls, egg parantha, omelet and other egg delicacies. A lot of college canteen also offer egg dishes but not all.

Rolls and Momos

Who says no the mouthwatering rolls? Be it egg roll, paneer roll, veg roll rolls are one of the most popular road side food among students. And not to forget momos. You'd hardly find a student in  today's time who isn't fond of momos/dumplings. Momos stalls have sprung up at a never seen before rate in the metro cities across country. But most importantly these food items are stuffed with vegetables thus making them a healthier option than most its counterparts. 

Sprouts/Poha/Upma/Idli

Something that's readily available at every corner of the city. They are the best and the most favorite breakfast dishes among the student. Almost every student in the college canteen can be seen stuffing on them early morning before the first lecture. Moreover, a lot of these dishes are available as pre-mix or ready to eat packets in the market. If you have access to an electric kettle or induction plate at your room you can easily make them yourself also.

Salads

They are some of the most popular healthy fast food option among youngsters today. Full of vegetables and various dressing as per your tastes, salads are full of basic nutrients. Even small fast food restaurants have added various salads to their menu.

Chhole/Rajma/KadiChaawal

Ask any students on your campus what they are having for lunch and the most popular answer you'll get is either cholechawal, kadichawal orrajmachawal. College canteens are overflowing with these three food items during the lunch hours. Students are crazy about them and they are healthy and sumptuous. While satisfying your taste buds for something spicy and tasty they also benefit you health.

When you're living a college life nutrition is the last thing on your mind. Food for most students means satisfying the cravings of their taste buds. But this doesn't mean that you can just ignore your health completely. College is the foundation of your professional life and maintaining a good academic performance in college studies is of utmost importance.
