Recently placed 8 in the world by Global ranking company Quacquarelli Symonds, Delhi University is soon going to announce its first cut-off and with it will begin the process of admission to various colleges affiliated to DU.

North and South campuses of Delhi University are home to its most reputed colleges and while some of them are co-education, some of the best ones are exclusively for women.  Here is the list of 10 best women's colleges affiliated to Delhi University:

Miranda House

Miranda House pioneered science education for women at the University of Delhi when it started its B.Sc. Honours (Botany) course in 1948. Over a span of years, the department has produced a large number of eminent scientists, dedicated teachers and those who excelled in other areas. These attributes of total dedication have contributed in a large measure to the position of distinction occupied by the college. Over near seven decades of its existence, the college has grown from strength to strength, continuing to provide an atmosphere of high academic excellence and rich cultural activities to its students. The college has established a niche for itself amongst the globally recognized premiere institutions of higher learning.

Lady Sri Ram College (LSR)

Lady Shri Ram College for Women, has long been recognized as a premier institution of higher learning for women in India. A centre for academic excellence and achievement, it is today one of the finest institutions for Social Sciences, Humanities and Commerce, while also offering a B.Sc. Programme in Statistics. Professional courses like Elementary Education and Journalism are among its strengths. Established in 1956 in New Delhi by the late Sir Shri Ram in memory of his wife, the college had its modest beginnings in a school building in Daryaganj, Central Delhi, with 243 students, 9 faculty, 4 support staff and 3 distinct courses of study.  Today, the college is located in a beautiful 15 acre campus in South Delhi, has approximately 2000 students, over 150 faculty, administrative and support staff and 16 courses of study.

Indraprastha College for Women

Established in 1924, in the movement of nationalist philanthropists for women’s education in Delhi, housed in a heritage building, marching towards its centenary, the College is proudly aware of its glorious history and tradition. The institution is the oldest women’s college of the University of Delhi. The College offers a wide range of courses, which promotes interdisciplinary studies in the 3 streams of Humanities, Mathematical Sciences and Commerce. Two new courses, B.A. (Hons.) Sociology and B.A. (Hons.) Geography, will commence from the academic session July 2017. Uniquely, the College offers the Self-Financed BA (Hons) in Multimedia and Mass Communication (BMMMC). The College is 100% barrier free and has a “Under One Roof” Enabling Unit (EU) and Equal Opportunity Cell (EOC).

Jesus and Mary College

Jesus and Mary College was founded in July 1968 as a constituent college of the University of Delhi. The College opened with one department offering English (Hons) and B.A.(Pass) Courses with an enrolment of 116 students. While full time under graduate programs and the post graduate programs in English and in Hindi are the main courses offered by the college, it is also the Centre for part time and distance learning programs offered by the Non Collegiate Women Education Board and the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU). Jesus and Mary College also offers short term certificate programs for its students to prepare them for vocational and professional life.

Daulat Ram College

Daulat Ram College, one of the leading colleges of University of Delhi, imparts education towards degree at the Bachelor's level in Arts, Science and Commerce. It has seven departments, which enroll students at the Masters level and hold MA tutorials that supplement the classes. The science departments are part of the Star Status awarded by the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India. At present the college has 18 departments and over 3546 students on rolls.

Gargi College

Gargi College was established in 1967 and has currently been awarded Grade-'A' by NAAC. It has on its rolls about 3864 students. It has progressed steadily to become one of the leading institutes of the University of Delhi. It is definitely the most sought after women’s College in south Delhi campus for Sciences. It is the only women’s college in south campus that offers education in four streams, viz Sciences, Commerce and Arts, and a teacher training programme in Elementary Education.

Lady Irwin College

Lady Irwin College is a premiere institution affiliated to University of Delhi for undergraduate and postgraduate education in Home Science institution affiliated university of delhi. It also supports doctoral programs in five areas of Home Science. Other programmes are two year B.Ed. (for students of Home Science), B.Ed Special Education(MR)(For students from all streams) and one year Postgraduate Diploma in Dietetics & Public Health Nutrition.
