How to Become Assistant Commandant in BSF, an Inspiration from the First Women Achieved Success

Today’s Women has already ensured it’s presence to the extent of male dominated areas, especially the defence, where female candidates too have stepped into.

You will surprise to know that world’s largest Border Security Force (BSF) was untouched with the female candidates but the brave woman Ms. Tanushree Pareek, with her joining as Assistant Commandant in BSF, has proved the importance of will power, through which anything can be achieved and nothing is impossible. It’s first time in the history of BSF that a woman has achieved this success. Tanushree will be posted as an Assistant Commandant where she will lead an unit.

Let’s go through about how to become Assistant Commandant in BSF and what are the eligibility criteria for that.

Assistant Commandant: Recruitment Process

Out of the total vacancies in BSF, fifty per cent are filled through the direct recruitment (out of which 10 per cent) are through SSCO while remaining are to be filled through promotion of personnel from the Inspector rank.

Following are the criteria for the recruitment in BSF:

Age Limit:

To apply for Assistant Commandant post in BSF, age of the candidates should be between 19-25 years. However, the candidates from Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Other Backward Classes (OBC) get relaxation in upper age limit as per the Government Norms notified from time to time.

Educational Qualification

The minimum educational qualification to apply for Assistant Commandant post in BSF is the Graduation or equivalent degree from any recognized university. Apart from this, if the candidates has obtained NCC ‘C’ or ‘B’ certificate or uncommon achievement in sports, it will increase their chances of selection.

Physical Standards

To apply for Assistant Commandant in BSF, a candidate needs to fulfill the following physical standards as well-

Apart from all above physical parameters, candidates shouldn’t have Knock-Knee, Flat Foot and Squint in Eyes.  Also, the candidates shouldn’t have any physical disability and should be mentally as well as physically fit.

Selection Process

There are three step selection processes to become Assistant Commandant in BSF. At first level, written test will be conducted. A candidate getting success in written will need to appear for physical fitness test. At last the personal interview will be conducted. After qualifying all these three steps a candidate gets opportunity to become Assistant Commandant.
