IIM Ahmedabad has hiked the fees of its two-year full time postgraduate programme (PGP) and postgraduate programme for agri-business management (PGPFABM) courses for the 2017-19 Batch. The current fees for the MBA students stand at Rs. 21 lakhs from the existing Rs. 19.50 lakhs. An escalation of 7.7 per cent in the fees can be observed for the students seeking admission in the PG Programme in 2017.
The announcement of the fee hike was made official at the 52nd convocation on Saturday by Professor Ashish Nanda (Director of IIM-A).
In addition, the batch size for the post graduate executive management programme has been increased from 85 to 120 seats in 2017.
Last year, IIM-A had increased fees for the PGP by Rs1 lakh, from Rs18.50 lakh to Rs 19.50 lakh. This implies that the students seeking admission to the 2-year full time PG courses were entitled to pay Rs. 19.50 lakhs.
The 52nd convocation of IIM Ahmedabad was attended by 554 students who were then conferred by the diplomas.
The convocation welcomed Axis Bank CEO and MD Shikha Sharma as the honourable chief guest at the event. She delivered her valuable insights and mentioned “This is India's time in the sun. As graduates of WIMWI, the Well Known Institute of Management in Western India (IIM-A), it is incumbent upon you to lead from the front in building our nation. Alongside Kumar Mangalam Birla (IIM-A chairman) also spoke a few words and said “Never let the process of learning and discovery stop. In the days and years to come, if you look at your workplace as your continuing MBA, you will keep expanding your horizon. What you have learnt here is the science of management. Which, however, is only one aspect of the learning curve. Going forward, you will have to start practicing the art of management.”

IIM-A was established in 1961, and offers Post Graduate Diploma Programmes in Management and Agri-Business Management, a Fellowship Programme and a number of Executive Training Programmes. The Institute's first Director was the Indian physicist Vikram Sarabhai. The Director as of 2016 is Ashish Nanda.
The institute has benchmarked the score of CAT exam as the criteria to get admission to its regular PGP in Management programmes. Thereafter a WAT and PI round is conducted to select the best talented students of India.
