IIM Bangalore concludes Final Placement for PGP Batch 2015-17

IIM Bangalore has completed the final placement process for PGP 2015-17 Batch. The institute welcomed participation from 160 recruiters from both India and abroad. Approximately 411 students participated in the process and received 450 offers from more than 200 job profiles. In the placement drive there were 10 students who opted out in order pursue their own venture. As many as 162 Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs) were extended out of which 133 PPOs were accepted by the students. The institute also acknowledged 25 per cent increase in the number of new recruiters in 2017.

On the placement drive conducted by the institute, Prof. Ganesh Prabhu, Chairperson, Career Development Services, IIM Bangalore, said: “We experienced a qualitative improvement in the placements this year. Increased hiring by banks, consulting and consumer goods firms compensated for the firms that could not participate in our placements this year.”

The placement report of IIM Bangalore has been bifurcated on industry-wide basis. This will enable in understanding the demand of the job seekers across industry and the ratio of firms that are interested in recruiting students from the top-B school of India.

IIM B PLACEMENT PROFILE 2017

As per the statistics shared by IIM Bangalore, it has become evident that the current batch size comprised of the perfect mix of students from diverse educational backgrounds and varied age group. As per the pie chart provided below there were 5 per cent job seekers from Commerce background and 91 per cent from Engineering domain. The rest 4 per cent were from Science and Other domains. Coming over to age bracket, there were maximum aspirants in the 22-24 years age bracket that have been placed by the institute. Merely 14 per cent students emerged from less than 21 years of age in the current batch. Rest 34 per cent belongs to more than 25 years of age.

IIM B PLACEMENTS 2017

Management Consulting

Boston Consulting emerged as the top recruiter (with 20 offers extended). The second place was secured by McKinsey & Co (with 13 offers) that tapped the talented pool of students. The league of top recruiters was joined in by Bain & Company-10 offers; EXL Consulting-10 offers; Deloitte-10 offers. AT Kearney made 9 offers.

Banking & Finance

In BFSI sector, Goldman Sachs emerged as the top recruiter (with 14 offers) in the campus. Other recruiters to join the league were Citibank (5), HSBC (4), Morgan Stanley (2), Deutsche Bank (2), DBS (1) and Standard Chartered (1). American Express (with 8 offers) extended job profiles pertaining to ‘Operations and Global Strategy’ roles. Other eminent banks and financial institutions that participating in the process included Yes Bank (7), ICICI Bank (6), Visa (3), Axis Bank (2), JM Financial (2), Fullerton (2), Société Générale (2), Aviva (1) and CRISIL (1).

Conglomerates

Top Indian Conglomerates offered roles on General Management profiles. Some of the top recruiters of this category include: Aditya Birla Group (10), Wipro Global (7), Bharti Airtel (6), Jindal (5), CK Birla Group (4), Mahindra Group (4), Tata Administrative Services (3), Reliance Industries (3) and RPG (2).

Sales & Marketing

Sales & Marketing cohort welcomed the influx of major FMCG companies with Anheuser-Busch Inbev (with 8 offers) coming forth as the highest recruiter. Other leading companies and their number of offers were Procter & Gamble (7), Hindustan Unilever (4), ITC (2), Johnson & Johnson (2), Marico (2), Asian Paints (2), Himalaya (2) and Mondelez International (1). A Middle East retail chain, M.H. Alshaya, also recruited 04 students from IIM Bangalore.

Technology

Well-known corporate leaders like Samsung (5), Tech Mahindra (4), Microsoft (3), WNS (3), Directi (2), Sterlite Technologies (2), Microland (2), Sasken (1), UnitedHealth Group (1), Schneider Electric (1), Phillips (1), Robert Bosch (1), Honeywell (1) and Sutherland Global (1). IT consulting companies like Capgemini (5), IBM Consulting (2) and Cognizant Business Consulting (1) participated and successfully recruited students of PGP batch in their organisation.

E-Commerce

Amazon emerged as the top recruiter in this category with 12 offers made to the job seekrs. Although, IIM Bangalore mentioned that the participation of E-Commerce companies was lower than last year. Other E-Commerce companies like Ola, Uber, Paytm, Myntra, Cloudtail, Swiggy made single digit offers.

Others

Dr. Reddy’s extended three offers from the Healthcare sector. Nitesh Estates and Altisource Ocwen recruited from Real Estate sector. Analytics recruiters were Mu Sigma and Bridgei2i which made one offer each.

New Recruiters in 2017

New recruiters visiting the IIMB campus hired in large numbers, led by Sprinklr making 6 offers followed by Sterlite Power (5), BNY Mellon (4), Power Finance (4), Vedanta (4), Stovekraft (3), Hay Group (3), Gulf Talent (3), Tolaram (3), Intellipaat (3), Indian Oil (3), Ambuja Cement (2), Amplus Solar (2), Saint Gobain (2), Pernod Ricard (1), Cello (1) and Danaher (1).
