Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Sirmaur organised their first convocation ceremony at Dhaula Kuan near Paonta Sahib in Sirmaur District, Himachal Pradesh. Himachal Pradesh chief minister Virbhadra Singh was the CM at the event and he delivered the special address to the students.
The state CM emphasized on the fact that "management tools could help in simplifying complex issues related to environmental sustainability, energy security, healthcare and sustainable development."
He also highlighted the fact that India and China are the major economies of the world and both countries have enormous opportunities to grow in terms of business. He also stressed on the requirement of capable managers and urged the faculty to have a broader point of view about the management needs of the country. While delivering his address he inspired students not only to address the challenges but also to contribute as much they can in the development of the nation.
He said "the state had played a pro-active role in establishing these institutions of importance by way of providing land free of cost and taking effective steps in making them operational, adding 200 acres had already been provided free of cost for setting up of its permanent campus at Dhaula Kuan in Sirmaur district. The state is proud to have all the leading technical education institutes of the country."
Virbhadra Singh also expressed his happiness to have all the leading technical education institutes of the country like IIT in Mandi, NIT Hamirpur, NIFT Kangra, IIIT Una, CIPET Baddi, RVTI Shimla, besides the IIM Sirmaur.
The newly appointed Director of IIM Sirmaur, Dr. Neelu Rohmetra called upon the students to ensure quality in jobs managed by them and said that research, development and training were necessary to achieve quality.
While congratulating the passing out batch, the Director IIM Sirmaur said that, “Life is all about taking small little firm steps that are in the right direction and lead us towards the desired vision”.
