The Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) is the institute for advanced education in agriculture in India established in 1905 as the Imperial Agricultural Research Institute in PUSA, Bihar. Later on it was recognised as a 'deemed university' in 1958 by an act of Parliament. It invites applications from eligible candidates for admission to the course mentioned below for the year 2012

Important Dates for Admission in Indian Agricultural Research Institute

  • Last date for receipt of application: 4 April 2012
  • Entrance Examination: 10 June 2012
  • Interview for Final Selection: 9 July 2012
  • Announcement of Final Result of Selection: 12 July 2012

Eligibility Criteria for Admission in Indian Agricultural Research Institute

  • Educational Qualification: Only those candidates who had their Bachelor's Degree Programmes under 10+2+4 OR 10+2+3 OR 10+1+4 systems (OR awarded BSc degree under 10+2+2 system prior to 1985) and fulfill the qualifications as prescribed in this bulletin are eligible to apply for admission.

a)      For General/OBC candidates: At least 60% marks OR an overall grade point average (OGPA) of 7.50 out of 10.00 OR 3.75 out of 5.00 OR 3.00 out of 4.00 OR 2.25 out of 3.00 in MSc/MSc (Ag)/ MTech/ ME

b)      For SC/ST/PH candidates: At least 55% marks OR OGPA of 7.00 out of 10.00 OR 3.50 out of 5.00 OR 2.80 out of 4.00 OR 2.10 out of 3.00 in MSc/ MSc (Ag)/ MTech./ ME

In case of the universities where OGPA is awarded with equivalence of percentage marks, only OGPA will be considered for determining the eligibility qualification for appearing in the entrance examination. The percentage of marks shall be considered only for candidates coming from universities that do not award grades.

Note: Candidates who appear at the Master's Degree final year Examination in 2012 are also eligible to apply and appear in written entrance examination provisionally for PhD programme. However, they will have to submit documentary evidence of their eligibility on or before 9 July 2012 failing which they shall not be considered for admission

  • Age Limit (as on 31 July 2012): Minimum 21 years

Selection Procedure for Admission in Indian Agricultural Research Institute

Candidates will be selected on the basis of their Academic Attainments (Record), performance in Entrance Examination and the Interview conducted by IARI.

The selected candidates will be allowed to join the Post Graduate School for pursuing further studies only after they are declared medically fit.

Candidates may download the Information Bulletin, admit cards, application form & acknowledgment card from the Institute website : www.iari.res.in or can get the same by post from the Campus and by hand from Syndicate Bank, Pusa Institute Campus, New Delhi and send it to the Registrar, PG School, Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi-110 012

Application Fee

  • By Hand: Rs 500 for General/ OBC category and Rs 250 for SC/ ST/ PH category plus Rs 25 as bank charges
  • By Post: A demand draft for Rs 575 for General/ OBC category (Rs 325 for SC/ ST/ PH category) drawn in favour of the Registrar, PG School, IARI, New Delhi-110012, payable at New Delhi
  • Online: A demand draft of Rs 500 for General/ OBC category and Rs 250 for SC/ ST/ PH category in favour of the Registrar, PG School, IARI, New Delhi-110012, payable at New Delhi should be enclosed with the Application form
