XAT 2018 Notification Released: Find Eligibility Criteria, Important dates and Exam Pattern

Xavier School of Management (XLRI) Jamshedpur has released the official notification for XAT exam. Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) 2018 will be conducted on January 7, 2018 i.e. the 2nd Sunday of January 2018. 

Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) 2018 is the gateway to XLRI, SPJIMR, IMT, XIMB and more than other 140 highly ranked B schools in India. XAT 2018 is proposed to be held in a single session from 10 AM to 1.30 PM in 47 test cities across the country and 2 test cities abroad in Kathmandu and Dubai.

When to Register for XAT 2018

All the XAT exam aspirants can registration for XAT 2018 from the third week of August, 2017. The XAT 2018 would be held in pen-paper based mode.

Eligibility Criteria for XAT 2018

1. Recognized Bachelor’s degree of minimum three years duration or equivalent in any discipline.

2. Those completing their final examination by June 10, 2018 may also apply.

3. All Indian candidates must appear for XAT 2018.

4. However NRI and foreign candidates may apply through GMAT score (except Dubai and Kathmandu wherein candidates have an option of appearing for XAT 2018).

5. Separate eligibility conditions have been mentioned on the official website of XAT 2018 for the MBA specializations pertaining to Human Resource Management (HRM) and Business Management (BM)

Changes in the Exam Pattern of XAT 2018

This year the XAT Exam will be divided in 5 sections comprising of both MCQ and descriptive type questions on sections namely Quantitative Ability; English Language & logical reasoning; Decision making, GK and descriptive Essay writing test.

Part 1 of XAT 2018 Exam

Time limit to solve - 170 minutes

Number of questions in Each Section

Verbal and Logical Ability:  24 MCQs

Decision Making: 21 MCQs

Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation: 27 MCQs

Part 2 of XAT 2018 Exam

Time limit to solve - 35 minutes

Number of questions in Each Section

General Knowledge: 25 MCQs

Essay Writing: Descriptive writing on 1 topic

About XAT Exam

XAT Exam is usually held on the first Sunday of January month. It is for the first time that the exam will be conducted on the 2nd Sunday of January. The format of XAT 2018 would remain pen-paper based. XAT 2018 scores will be used by XLRI and other XAMI institutions and also by more than 100 other associated B-schools for admission to MBA/PGDM 2018-20 programme.

Last year in XAT 2017 around 90,000 students registered and applied for the exam, and it is the second most popular exam after CAT exam.
