Mishra will succeed Archana Ramasundaram who is set to retire on 30 September 2017. Mishra is a 1984 batch Uttar Pradesh Cadre IPS officer. He has been posted as Special Director General in Border Security Force (BSF) since 2012.

Jharkhand Government has launched the ‘Shaheed Gram Vikas Yojana’ to develop villages of freedom fighters. The Union government has exempted import duty on a wide range of goods and sports items for the upcoming FIFA U-17 World Cup India. The facility for composition scheme was opened for taxpayers with a turnover of up to Rs 75 lakh. These taxpayers will be allowed to be a part of the scheme, which offers easy compliance for business as returns are to be filed only quarterly, till 30 September 2017. The scheme was reopened to facilitate about 75 lakh registered businesses who opted for the scheme but failed to be a part of the scheme till 16 August 2017.

Arjan Singh, Marshal of the Indian Air Force passed away at the age of 98, after suffering a cardiac arrest. He breathed his last at the Army's Research and Referral hospital in New Delhi. He is survived by a son and a daughter.

Bacterial cells treated with a common antibiotic have been spotted changing shape to survive while aboard the International Space Station (ISS).The "clever shape-shifting" was detected in bacteria being experimented on in the near-weightlessness of space, and is believed to help the bacteria survive. The result came after a group of researchers led by Luis Zea from the University of Colorado, Boulder, in the United States sent E-Coli to ISS for experiment.
The UNCTAD’s recently released Trade and Development Report (TDR) 2017, stated that India and China at their current levels of growth will not serve as “growth polls” for global economy in near future. The world economy in 2017 is picking up but not lifting off. The global growth is expected to reach 2.6%, well below pre 2008 financial crisis average of 3.2%. The Trade & Development report is a flagship report of the UNCTAD which evaluates the global economic climate.
