The first ever All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) is set up along the lines of AIIMS and has an NABH Accredited Hospital and an Academic Block.. It has been set up with a total campus area of 10.015 acres with a budget of Rs 157 Crore.

A 5-judge Constitutional Bench will decide whether the women’s fundamental right to pray at the place of their preference can be overruled on the ground of religious belief “biological factor exclusive to the female gender”. The matter was a referred to this bench by Supreme Court of India.

The Union Minister for Communications, Manoj Sinha has launched the Sampoorna Bima Gram Yojana, an initiative for expansion of client base of Postal Life Insurance. The main objective of the scheme is to cover all households in the identified Sampoorna Bima Gram village.
To commemorate the same, the Union Government constituted a National Committee headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The decision will benefit 7.58 lakh teachers and equivalent academic staff in the 106 Universities and Colleges which are funded by the UGC/MHRD. It will also benefit 329 Universities which are funded by State Governments and 12912 government and private aided colleges affiliated to State Public Universities.

The Apex Court of Country Supreme Court struck down the provision of criminal law that legalized sex by a spouse with his minor wife between the age of 15 to 18 years in a child marriage case. The apex court said the exception in the rape law was contrary to the philosophy of other statutes and violates the bodily integrity of a girl child. The court also ruled that the exception given to this is violative of Article 14, 15 and 21 of the Constitution.

A UGC panel has recommended that Hindu and Muslim word in the names of universities- BHU- Banaras Hindu University and AMU- Aligarh Muslim University, do not echo their secular spirit and should be dropped.
