The U.P. Board of High School and Intermediate Education was set up in the year 1921 at Allahabad by an act of United Provinces Legislative Council. In the wake of the Board experiencing considerable difficulty in controlling and conducting its activities centrally from Allahabad, four Regional Offices of the Board were established at Meerut (1973), Varanasi (1978), Bareilly (1981) and Allahabad(1987) under the control of Regional Secretaries. The head office is still at Allahabad with Secretary as the overall executive head.
Important Functions of the Board
Currently there are 9121 secondary schools recognized by the U.P. Board of High School and Intermediate Education.
The UP Board was the first in India to have adopted 10+2 system of examination. It conducted its first examination in 1923. The UP Board currently is the biggest examining body in the World.
The first public examination after 10 years education is High School Examination and after the 10+2 stage, there is Intermediate Examination. Prior to 1923, University of Allahabad was the examining body of these two examinations.
The Board held 10th and 12th class examination for 2012 in March and is presently preparing the results of nearly 32 lakh students. The UP Board 10th class exam was held from 1 March to 21 March 2012. The UP Board 12th Class Exam began on 1 March and was completed by 4 April.
Coded answer sheets were used in ten districts declared as sensitive by the UP board. These districts include Ajamgarh, Dewaria, Hathras, Mau, Kausamdhi, Allahabad, Gajipur, Etah, Balia, Aligarh. There were 157 prisoner candidates who took the high school examination.
UP board high school result were declared on 1 June 2011 therefore it can be expected that 10th class result of 2012 will also be available within 3 months after examination.
UP board 10th result can be checked through SMS. Students can check their UP board 10th class result through IVRS.
