नाइजीरिया के 13वें राष्ट्रपति एवम् सशस्त्र बलों के कमांडर इन चीफ़ 58 वर्षीय उमारू मूसा यार आदुआ का लंबी बीमारी के बाद राष्ट्रपति भवन, आबूजा में 5 मई 2010 को निधन हो गया. वर्ष 2007 में निर्वाचित आदुवा को 27 नवंबर 2009 को सऊदी अरब के एक अस्पताल में भर्ती कराया गया.

गुडलक जोनाथन नाइजीरिया के राष्ट्रपति निर्वाचित

6 मई 2010 को नाइजीरिया के राष्ट्रपति भवन एसो रॉक आबूजा में 52 वर्षीय गुडलक जोनाथन ने नाइजीरिया के 14 वें राष्ट्रपति और सशस्त्र बलों के कमांडर इन चीफ़ (कमांडर इन चीफ ऑफ द नाइजेरियन आर्म्ड फोर्सेज) की शपथ ली. गुडलक जोनाथन को अफ्रीका के सबसे अधिक आबादी वाले देश नाइजीरिया के निर्वाचित नेता 58 वर्षीय उमारू मूसा  यार अदुआ की मृत्यु के बाद निर्वाचित किया गया.
