    From 2018 onwards, the National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the most popular entrance exam i.e., Joint Entrance Exam Main (JEE Main). Earlier, this exam was conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in offline mode (pen paper based) or computer based test (CBT), the National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct JEE Main twice a year in fully computer based test mode. Students can appear for JEE Main in January and April. NTA is going to set-up 2697 computer practice centres for JEE Main 2019, so that students can practice there at free of cost and get familiar with the computer based test. The agency is also planning to launch a mobile application (for android and IOS) through which students can easily locate the centres and register themselves.     The government is also planning to turn these practice centres into teaching centres for economically weaker students. The teaching centres will definitely help such talented students from rural and semi-urban areas want to take coaching to fulfill their dream of getting into IITs, NITs and IIITs, but because of their financial constraints the private coaching is impossible for them. These centres will not charge any fees by the talented students.

    How to register for NTA Test Practice Centre?

    1. Go to the official website i.e.,nta.ac.in.
    2. Click on the link "Student Registration (For Practice Center)" on top of the Home Page.
    3. Proceed with your registered Google or Facebook account.        
    4. Fill the Personal, Contact, Academic and Exam details.

    How NTA computer practice centres would benefit students?

    Earlier, most of the students opted for the OMR based mode (pen paper based) instead of computer based test (for JEE Main) as they were familiar with that mode. Now, JEE Main will be conducted in fully computer based test mode, so it is very important for students to get familiar with the computer mode test. Students can take the following advantages/benefits:

    • Schools and engineering colleges with computer centres would be utilised on Saturdays and Sundays, so that students belonging from rural areas can visit these centres in order to practice CBTs.
    • Candidates can practice at NTA computer practice centres for the duration of an hour to properly practise taking an online exam.
    • Students will not be charged any fee for practicing at the centres.
    • Students can increase their speed of solving questions by practicing at the centres.

    Changes introduced in JEE Main 2019:

    • The exams will be conducted in fully computer based test (CBT) which will make these exams more secure and student friendly.
    • Students can go to computer centres from August-end to practice for the exams.
    • The exams would be held over a span of four-five days.
    • Students would have the option of choosing the dates which they feel suitable for them.
    • The syllabus, question formats, language and fees for the exams would not be changed.
    • There will be unique test paper for each candidate.
