The President, Pranab Mukherjee has hosted a two-day conference for vice-chancellors of all the Central Universities in India. The conference kicked off from 06 February 2014.
As said by the Rashtrapati Bhavan spokesperson, the agenda of this year’s V-C conference entails reflection on actions taken on recommendations made during last year's conference. The other important points to be dealt with during this conference includes steps to improve quality of education in Central Universities by creating inter-linkages with Industry, interfacing with ranking agencies and use of technology for access, equity and quality in higher education.
The members participating in this conference other than V-Cs are Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Minister for Human Resource Development M M Pallam Raju, HRD Ministers of State, Chairman of the National Innovation Council Sam Pitroda, and the Chairman of UGC, said the spokesperson.
This is the second time Mukherjee has been convening such conference for V-Cs of Central Universities since his appointment as the President. The President of India is a visitor to these central universities.
