Admissions under RTE Quota to Begin from 15 February 2014 On Trial Basis

    The director of primary education, Mahavir Mane, confirmed on 27 January that the entry-level school admissions under Right to Education (RTE) will be commenced from 15 February 2014 across the Maharashtra State.

    The official notification, regarding the start of RTE admission will be issued in early February.

    On the trial basis the admissions will be conducted In Mumbai & Pune and schools will be able to understand the procedure after they will receive the circular, told Mane.

    In December 2013, the education department issued a circular to state schools, to elucidate that they should commence entry-level admission before April 2014.

    The department had also clarified that schools will intake students under RTE quota through online mode, as per the schedule provided by the department of education. However, this circular was later immediately cancelled followed by the announcement that stated that Online RTE admissions are to be started for the 2015-16 session.

    Hence, for this year’s academic session the online admissions will be held on a trial basis only, and schools should not get anxious with the procedure, said Mane.

    The officials from the Mumbai division education department informed that taking the admissions online in 2014 would not be feasible due to the lack of training and non-availability of enough officers.
