Age limit likely to be axed for UPSC Civil Service exam, Baswan Panel report makes its way to DoPT

UPSC has referred the reports of Baswan Panel which suggests the reduction of age limit for civil service examinations, to DoPT. The final decision regarding the panel’s suggestion is pending.

Baswan Panel was formed one year back under the Chairmanship of Former Human Resource Development Secretary BS Baswan. Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has finally referred the report of the Baswan Panel to the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT). The panel has suggested for reduction in age limit of candidates appearing for civil service examinations.

As per the latest notification issued by UPSC, the maximum age limit for civil service exam for general candidates is 32 years.

The panel has analyzed the plan of exam, number, weightage and structure of papers, marking scheme and evaluation process.

Baswan panel had submitted its report to UPSC on 09 August 2016.
