DU Cut off: First List declared for DU admission 2016, Cut offs soar high, Check at du.ac.in

DU first cut off list has been declared! The first cut off list for admission to various undergraduate courses in the varsity for the academic year 2016-17 has been released. High cut offs of this year will definitely make it tough for the aspirants to secure a seat in the colleges.

DU first cut off list has been declared! The first cut off list for admission to various undergraduate courses in the varsity for the academic year 2016-17 has been released. High cut offs of this year will definitely make it tough for the aspirants to secure a seat in the colleges.

Contrary to the trend of the previous year, none of the colleges listed 100% cut off. This year, Ramjas College has declared 99.25% cut off in BSc Commerce (Honours); the highest among all the DU colleges. The second highest cut off is declared for BSc (Electronics). Guru Teg Bahadur Khalsa College has declared 99% cut off for BSc (Electronics).

In general, for all the popular courses available, the cut off has been set at more than 97%. Read more about DU Cut off here. For Economics (Hons.), Ramjas College has announced the highest cut off at 98.50%; and for Miranda House it is 97.75%. Cut off for the subject has been comparatively high in other colleges as well; (Atma Ram Sanatan Dharam College- 98%, Aryabhata College-97%, Delhi College of Arts and Commerce-97%, Hans Raj College-98%). In Lady Shriram College, highest cut off has been declared for B.A (Hons) Psychology (98.50%), BA (Hons) Economics (98%) and B.Sc (Hons) Mathematics (97.50%). Guru Teg Bahadur Khalsa College has the highest cut off for English Honours (98.75%). For Mathematics subject, the cut off could not go high! It may be because of the CBSE Class 12 Mathematics result this year. Cut offs for the subject at various colleges are Ramjas College (98.50%), Atma Ram Sanatan Dharam College, HansRaj College, Kirori Mal College (97%), Hindu College, Lady Shriram College (97.50%).

While cut offs for highly sought after courses has increased, in some colleges it has decreased too. At Kirori Mal College and Bharati College, the minimum cut off has increased from the last year. But cut off for BSc (Computer Science) has decreased to 97.25% at Hansraj College. Miranda House has almost same cut off as the previous year.

The cut offs have been decided on the basis of the marks obtained in the three best elective subjects taken together with one language subject. Read more about the percentage criteria set for DU admission 2016 here

DU admission 2016 had begun on 01 June 2016. The University had received an overwhelming response with nearly 2.5 lakh applications. The first cut off was earlier announced to be declared on 27 June 2016 however due to extension in the application submission deadline, the cut off was postponed to 30 June 2016.

After the declaration of the cut off list, the University has asked the selected students to complete the admission formalities in the Colleges within the given time.
