In the line of USA, UK and Australia, which are the coveted education destinations for Indian students and scholars, Germany also invites Indian students for higher studies and research works.

According to recent news reports, German consul general in India, Rainer Schmiedchen said during a road show titled "Excellence on Tour" that Indian students should include another destination point in their education journey, and seek higher studies in Germany.

Aimed at improving Indo-German ties, the road show was focused on strengthening research collaboration by providing a platform to Indian researchers in Germany.

To promote academic synergies between the two countries, the German House for research and innovation, which is active in India since 2012, and the German Research Foundation (DFG) works glove in hand.

Dorothea Wagner, the vice president of DFG, said that according to the new rules applied by German government, Indian students can stay in Germany to work after completing their studies. She also suggested Indian students to go for a career in Germany at an early stage of education in order to make a better future. There are lots of opportunities in Germany for students studying humanities or medicine, said Wagner.

Institutes like Max Plank Institute, University of Cologne, University of Heiderlberg, Georg-August-Universitat, Freie Universitat were participated in the road show along with German agencies DAAD and GIZ.
