Guru Dronacharya fixed a wooden bird into the branch of a tree. He called his students one by one and asked them to aim at the eye of the bird.
Everyone answered, they can see branches of the tree, complete bird, and nearby surroundings but only Arjuna said he can see only eye of the bird.
It is due to the reason that only he was able to concentrate on the (target) bird's eye and block out every other distraction. It was his concentration power with which he became one of the greatest archers of the times.
Scholars of Albert Einstein believed that he uses special techniques to concentrate on anything for more than 1 hour avoiding any sort of nearby disturbances.
We all know that building six pack abs is not one night game but it takes time, effort, and dedication to built one. Similarly, one also needs time, efforts and practice to increase his or her concentration power.

1 # Spider Web Technique

If you touch a spider web with a spoon, the spider will react and will start looking for what is touching the web. But if you will do it several times the spider will realise there’s no insect or bug and will not look back.
Similarly, when you sit in your workstation, give five minutes to think about the possible sources of distraction and then give commands to your mind that you will ignore such distraction.
For example, when you will study, someone will knock the door, somebody may drop something near you. So before starting study make up your mind that these incidents may happen but you should not pay any attention to them.
2 # Keyword Technique

It is a simple but very effective technique. In this technique you just need to find a unique word (or keyword) related to ongoing work.
Whenever you feel distracted then start saying the keyword in your mind again and again until you get back to the ongoing work.
There are no specific rules to select the keyword and can be selected by the person as per their convenience.
For example, suppose you are learning to play piano and suddenly you start feeling distracted to something else then you can start saying music, music.... again and again till you start playing the piano again.

Research shows that, when a person sleeps or takes rest, then the mind of the person reboots. After taking rest the mind of a person works more efficiently. 7 – 8 hours of sleep is sufficient for most of the person doing moderate amount of physical work. Oversleeping or sleeping too much passively affects your concentration power.
While working or doing studies take short breaks or naps for 15 to 30 minutes. This will refresh your mind and will also increase your concentration power.
Meditation is a proven technique to increase the concentration power. While taking rest during work hours, try to focus on something unique in your mind which may be a sign, symbol or any idol. This is most simple Yoga technique which you can practice anytime and anywhere to increase your concentration power.

Sudoku, Chess, Solitaire are some of the games which not only refreshes your mind but will also increase your concentration power. All these games need a lot of concentration. Playing these games also enhance decision taking power of a person.
We all are aware of the fact that muscles of a person become strong through continuous workouts. Similarly, our brain can also be considered as muscles and by playing board games like chess, crossword Puzzles, and picture Puzzles etc. games, again and again, help to achieve higher concentration for a longer time.

5: Physical Exercise and Brain Boosting Diet

A healthy mind resides in a healthy body. A person can’t concentrate if he or she is unwell or suffering from various ailments. So, in order to improve concentration physical exercise and a healthy diet is very essential.
Aerobic exercises like quick walk, jumping jacks, running increases the concentration of oxygen in your brain. Make aerobic exercises as an enjoyable part of everyday life. It will help you to stay fit and also increase your concentration power. Warm up by clapping your hands, lion laughter, deep breathing exercises with laughter are some of very light exercises which are also helpful to reduce stress level.
Besides exercises, a healthy diet chart is also important to improve concentration level. There are some foods which are supposed to have positive effects on the mind of a person. Berries, broccoli, avocados, whole grains, fish, and pumpkin seeds are some of the examples of such food. Avoiding junk and including these foods will also increase your concentration power.
