IIM Calcutta Summer Placements 2018: 180 recruiters ensure 100% placements
IIM Calcutta – one of India’s top B-schools has completed their summer placements for the year 2018 in record two days. The key highlight of the summer placements at IIM-C was that Government highest planning agency i.e. the NitiAyog also selected 5 students from the management institute. Being one of the oldest IIMs of the country, IIM Calcutta enjoys a special trust with several recruiters who have been loyal to the B-school. The recruiters have yet again shown their belief in the talent of management graduates walking out of IIM Calcutta campus.

100% Placements in 2 days
Keeping up the tradition of registering 100% placements in record time, this year as well IIM Calcutta managed to place all the students in just over two days in different roles and profiles. The B-school has been in the habit of wrapping up their summer placements in just few days as they have a loyal batch of recruiters who visit them every year to hire managerial talent for their firms.
Hiring Trends
As discussed above, the main highlight of this year’s summer placement session at IIM-C was focused around the 5 students grabbing internship opportunities with NitiAyog – the top planning body of the government of India. Apart from this, as well there were several other trends that suggested that the slowdown witnessed during the last year’s MBA placement season has been overcome by top MBA colleges of India like IIM Calcutta.
The most obvious trend that came out of the IIM Calcutta Summer Placements 2018 was the dominance of finance and consulting sectors. Both of these sectors together amounted to 41% or 188 offers being made to the students.
In terms of recruiters, Goldman Sachs made the highest number of offers in Finance while The Boston Consulting Group was the top recruiter in Consulting. Apart from these, Aditya Birla Group, Uber and Coke also emerged as top recruiters in Marketing, Operations and General Management respectively. In addition to this even five private equity firms and seven Investment Banking firms participated in the process.
Other major sectors like Marketing, General Management, E-commerce, Operations and Product Management made offers during the summer placement session at IIM Calcutta campus.
Like every other major B-school of the country, even IIM Calcutta has registered a very healthy growth in the summer placements 2018. The growth is not only in terms of the number of offers being made but also in the amount of stipend that students are being hired by the recruiters. The trend clearly suggests that the slowdown that was witnessed in the MBA placements last year has been overcome by top MBA colleges in India.
