Tips for Quantitative Aptitude in SSC Exams: Miscellaneous Practice Set-1
Dear Readers, It is found that students are facing several problems in the quantitative section. In this article, we at www.jagranjosh.com, have prepared the following tips for overcoming these above stated problems.
a. It is very time consuming:- Yes, it is true that quantitative section requires a lot of time to gain score in this section and there is less time to handle the other sections. The reasons behind this are stated as below: -
- Quantitative questions are challenging and interesting, that’s why, candidates used to solve these problems.
- Most of the time, candidates put on a lot of pressure on them as SSC exams used to conduct once in a year. So, they want every question to be correct.
- Candidates find Quant as a very scoring section as everyone knows about the Mathematics. Hence, they involve themselves in this section.
b. Chances of getting wrong answers often: - Students are feared of marking wrong answers in the answer sheet. It is observed due to wrong concept and calculations. Hence, to overcome it, try using shortcut tricks for solving questions.
c. Lack of mathematical concept: - Simple questions can be solved with the straight forward formulas and theorems. But, if there is a set of statements stating a particular problem. Then , there is a requirement of deep understanding of the described problem and finding out the supplementary information/data that can fit in the ultimate formulae.
d. It involves a lot of calculations: - there are few topics in quant which comprised of bulk and tricky calculations, especially in Time & work, Time-distance & Speed, Probability, Permutation & Combination, Mixture & Allegiation, Percentage , etc. So, to overcome these hurdles try to develop shortcut calculation technique like Vedic Maths and Other number techniques.
e. Cumbersome Question language: - Most of the time, Candidates misunderstood the questions as language used in it is very tricky and subtle which results in wrong plotting of solution. Hence, before applying any logic, Read the questions very carefully and the n proceed.
