UPSC IAS Prelims 2017 GS Question Paper Analysis: Balance Paper, Modi Schemes Highlighted
The General Studies Paper of UPSC IAS Prelims 2017 was balance in nature where most of the qustions from different sections and related to the related current events. This year, various Social and other schemes of the PM Modi Govt were asked.
As pe the Answer Key Analysis of UPSC Civil Services (IAS) Prelims 2017 exam conducted on 18 June 2017, almost 40 to 45 questions, out of total 100 questions were asked from the Current Affairs section while the General Studies were the second biggest area.
In 2017, IAS Prelims Exam comprised of the General Studies (GS) - Paper 1 and the Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT) Paper 2.
Apart from Economy and Current Affairs, History, Arts & Culture were two main majors subjects from which questions were asked in UPSC Civil Services Prelims Exam 2017.
However, unlike prvious years, in 2017, the questions from Geography were compratively lesser in numbers, whereas envionment & climate related questions were quite more this year.
UPSC conducts Civil Services Prelims Exam to shortlist candidates for next round i.e. Main Exam comprising descriptive written exam followed by Personality Test i.e. interview.
IAS Prelims 2016 Exam will consist of objective type questions and carry a total of 200 marks. The question paper will be bilingual (Hindi/English). The paper will include questions from General Studies (GS) of 200 marks. There will also be Aptitude Test of 200 marks.
IAS Prelims 2017 Answer Key & Question Paper for General Studies Paper I
The GS paper/ Paper I will be the deciding factor this year. The paper will include questions from current events of national and international importance, history of India, India and World geography, Indian polity and governance, economic and social development and the general issues on environmental ecology.
The Aptitude test/ Paper II will have questions related to Comprehension, Interpersonal skills including communication skills, Logical reasoning and analytical ability, Decision making and problem solving ability, General mental ability, Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude, etc) (Class X level), Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc. - Class X level) and English Language Comprehension skills (Class X level).
The Civil Services Exam will be conducted for recruiting eligible candidates against 1079 vacancies in accordance with the rules and norms set by the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT).
