UPSC IAS CSAT Paper II analysis

UPSC IAS Prelims CSAT (GS Paper II) 2019 Exam Analysis was conducted on June 2, 2019. CSAT (Paper 2) exam analysis can be checked here in this article. The aspirants who have appeared for the exam can check the detailed exam analysis of the question paper.

The CSAT Paper 2, like the previous year exam, has questions from the topics like Logical Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, English Comprehension, Data Interpretation etc. The overall difficulty level of the question paper is difficult and some questions of Maths are really difficult to crack. Some questions were tricky and needed time to solve.

The CSAT Paper 2 was conducted in offline mode across various centres of the country. The questions were in objective type format and the time duration of the exam was 2 hours.  There was 1/3rd negative marking for wrong answers which will be deducted from the score of the candidates.

 IAS Prelims CSAT GS Paper-II 2019 Exam Pattern

It is known that the IAS Prelims 2019 Exam consists of two papers – GS Paper-I and GS Paper-II (CSAT) for total 400 marks. GS Paper-II consists of 80 questions. Also, there is negative marking of 1/3rd marks for wrong answers.

The candidates will have to appear for the UPSC Mains exam if they qualify the Prelims exam. The GS Paper II is qualifying in nature and the candidates have to get the passing marks only. Only GS Paper I will be considered for the merit and not the GS Paper II. The candidates, who get 33% marks in the CSAT, are considered qualified for the Paper II. However, the candidates must know that the final selection is based on the marks of Paper I only.
