UPSC IES ISS Exam Pattern 2023

• The question papers in all subjects in Indian Economic Service Examination and in Indian Statistical Service Examination will be of Conventional (essay) type except in Statistics Paper I and Statistics Paper II which are Objective Type Papers. 
• The General English and General Studies papers that are common to both Indian Economic Service and Indian Statistical Service will be of subjective type.
• The question paper will be set in English only.

Note:

• Statistics I & II will contain Objective Type Questions (80 questions with maximum marks of 200 in each paper) to be solved in 120 minutes. 
• Statistics III and IV will contain Descriptive Type questions such as Short Answer/ Small Problems Questions (50%) and Long Answer and Comprehension problem questions (50%).

PART - II Viva-voce/Interview

The shortlisted candidate will be interviewed by a Board of competent and unbiased panel who will have the previous record of the career of the candidates. The main objective of the interview is to check their suitability for the service for which they have attempted the exam. The interview is conducted to supplement the written examination for assessing the general and specialized knowledge and abilities of the aspirants. The Viva-voce will be conducted for 200 marks.

General Economics-I

Part A:
