The Government of Andhra Pradesh has embarked a latest program that helps students in the ST category to avail foreing education. Every year 100 students of ST category will be sponsored by the Andhra government to reputed universities round the globe. The government will uphold complete expenditure that involves admission fees, accommodation charges equal to Rs 10 lakh alongside facilitate students with a bank loan for further expenses.
This program will benefit to those tribal students who get admission in an overseas university of UK, US, Singapore, Canada and Australia. The first 100 ST students will be selected from the students who secure admission in higher studies programs for the current academic year. This programmed is named as 'Ambedkar Overseas Studies Nidhi'. The students have to gratify some mandatory criteria, to avail this program which includes listed guidelines:
• The family income should not be more than 2.5 lakh.
• The age of the student should not be more than 35 years.
• The students who are seeking higher education or doctoral programs from foreign universities.
In the view of experts, for the success of this program, special coaching should also be provided for the tribal peoples to crack TOFEL and GRE in order to get admission in US varsities.
