Agriculture Scientists Recruitment Board (ASRB) on 14 November 2012 notified for Agricultural Research Service (ARS) Examination 2012. The ARS Examination will be conducted in two sessions– Prelims and Mains– on 24 February 2013 and 23 June 2013 respectively followed by viva voce of successful candidates.

ARS Examination 2012 will be conducted in 55 disciplines for which the number of attempts remains 4 for all candidates excluding SC/ ST candidates. Candidates applying for the same should hold a Master's degree or equivalent in the concerned subject with specialization in any of the 55 disciplines mentioned in the notification.

The Agriculture Scientist Recruitment Board (ASRB) of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) conducts National Eligibility Test (NET) Examination for determining eligibility for Lecturer/ Assistant Professor in the State Agricultural Universities (SAUs) and other Agricultural Universities (AUs).

ASRB will conduct ARS Examination and NET Examination separately from the current session. While National Eligibility Test (NET) Examination will be conducted twice in a year; ARS (Agriculture Research Scientist) Examination will be held once in a year. The syllabus, however, for both ARS and NET examinations will be same.
