The BPSC Prelims Exam 2018 was conducted on 16 December 2018 across different centres of the state. In the official notification, the BPSC has notified 1465 seats. The number of candidates to be called for the BPSC Mains Exam 2018 will be around 15 to 20 times to that of the vacancies.
BPSC Prelims Previous Year’s Cut off
The cutoff is the interplay among the following factors:
1. Number of vacancies
2. Number of candidates appeared in the BPSC Prelims Exam 2018
3. Difficulty level of the BPSC Prelims Question Paper
Number of vacancies
This year the Bihar Public Service Commission has notified for 1465 seats, which is more in comparison to the recent years. These seats can increase if the commission keep including the requirements of the various departments under this advertisement. So, if the number of seats increase; the expected cutoff of the BPSC Prelims will reduce further.

Number of candidates appeared in the BPSC Prelims Exam 2018
This factor indicates the level of competition among the candidates who are appearing in the exam. The logic is simple: higher the number of candidates appearing in the exam; higher will be the level of competition and hence the cutoff of the exam becomes higher. Here, in this case also, the number of candidates appeared in this exam was higher in comparison to the recent years because of the higher number of seats notified in the official notification.
There is no official data for the number of candidates appeared in the BPSC Prelims Exam 2018. Only estimation about numbers of candidates appeared in the BPSC Prelims Exam 2018 is available. The number of estimated candidates who appeared in the BPSC Prelims is around 4 lakhs. So the expected cut off will rise based on this factor.
Difficulty level of the BPSC Prelims Question Paper
The difficulty level of Bihar PCS Prelims Question paper was medium and nothing came out of the blue. There were four to five questions which were difficult to find even in the standard books. But, these questions are not going to make any difference in the cutoff because the majority of the candidates don’t know the answer of those questions.
The BPSC Pelims paper was very balanced. There were a good number of questions from world geography and Bihar’s physical features, but the questions based on in-depth knowledge were missing.
Bihar PCS Prelims 2018 Question Paper
The BPSC Prelims question paper followed the pattern of the previous years and after analysing this factor, it is expected that the cutoff will remain low.
