CAT 2013 petition was filed against IIMs last year by students was dismissed by Indore High court. Indore High court upheld the normalization process. The petition was filed by CAT 2013 takers against IIMs on the lack of transparency in score normalization process and award of scores in CAT 2013 result. Many students got scores which were skewed and did not seem fine. Due to which many aspirants filed petition against IIMs.
Out of 1.73 lakhs CAT 2013 test takers, there were more than 90000 candidates in CAT 2013 who scored zero or less marks. After getting the notices from the court, IIM replied to the notices with explanations of the followed normalization process. Indore high court was satisfied with the response it got and thus gave the judgement in the favor of IIMs.
Also, now that CAT 2014 is conducted as well and results are declared. Students have even taken admission using CAT 2014 score. It seems of no use to carry on the cases or petitions filed in 2013. It looks like the fine thing to do but it would have been better if people who filed the cases would have got the answers to their queries.
It will be good to see, what lessons have been learnt from CAT 2013 in the 2015 MBA admissions.
