After giving good news to the CAT aspirants by raising their stipulated examination time, the authority has decided to give more options to candidates by providing 19 IIMs to choose from, for the students. In the recently uploaded registration video which is available on the official website of CAT 2014, it says the students can apply for 19 IIMs instead of presently functioning 13 IIMs.
The raise in the number of IIMs have come after the budget declaration of Arun Jaitley this year, announcing 5 more IIMs to be initiated in the country. Later the number was raised to six which would come up in due course of time in Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha and Punjab. The academic session of these IIMs would begin from 2015-16, for which it has given options to the students taking the CAT examination this year to apply for the Post Graduate Programme.
Presently the number of IIMs in India is 13, running in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta, Lucknow, Kozhikode, Indore, Shillong, Tiruchirappalli, Raipur, Udaipur, Rohtak, Ranchi and Kashipur. The aim is to establish one IIM in every state so that CAT aspirants can get the best of the chances to get in to these prestigious institutes without moving to other states.
All the candidates who are going through to the CAT 2014 examination are allowed to apply for PGP courses in any/all of the following IIMs by selecting their choices in the given boxes of the form. The registration for this year’s examination is still on and the authority has come up with good news announcing six new IIM centers in which the candidates can apply.
