    With the official announcement of CAT 2018 notification, the MBA Entrance Exam season 2018 has officially kicked-off. This year, IIM Calcutta is the official exam convener for CAT 2018 and the registration for the CAT 2018 exam has commenced from August 8, 2018, onwards. CAT exam is going to be held on November 25, 2018. So before you fill the application form, take a look at the list of various CAT test cities that have been included in the list this year.

    A welcoming more for the CAT aspirants is that IIM Calcutta has added 7 more CAT test cities to the list of the existing 140 CAT test cities. IIM Calcutta is following the general tradition of expanding the number of test cities which previous CAT conveners have been doing such as IIM Lucknow and IIM Bangalore. Since 2015, the reach of CAT exam is expanding across the nation. From 136 CAT test centers in 2015, at present the list has reached to 147 CAT Exam cities. The intent behind the gradual expansion of CAT Exam test cities is aimed at making India’s biggest B-school entrance test more accessible to the MBA aspirants from tier 2 and smaller towns.

    Test Centres scrapped last year

    A total of 6 test cities were cancelled in 2017 which includes Khammam in Telangana, Khanna and Phagwara in Punjab, Cochin in Kerala, Gaya in Bihar, Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh. According to IIM Lucknow, which was the CAT convenor in 2017, these 6 test centres were scrapped after the experience of last year, when not many candidates appeared for the test from these cities. Therefore, these were scrapped from the CAT test cities list.

    CAT Test Cities for Delhi NCR Candidates

    CAT aspirants residing in Delhi NCR regions can choose one of the following 10 test cities mentioned in the list of the CAT test centers

    • Faridabad
    • Gurgaon             
    • Mathura
    • Noida
    • Ghaziabad
    • Palwal
    • Greater Noida  
    • Sonepat

    Many small towns included

    Another significant development with regards to CAT 2017 test cities was that while certain small towns were excluded from the list, many new small towns and tier 2 cities were added to the list. This was done with intent to bring the test centres closer to the aspirants and make the country’s biggest B-school admission test more accessible to interested candidates.
