This year the exams were conducted in the month of March and it lasted till 25 April 2014. Some exams were rescheduled due to Lok Sabha elections. About 13, 28,970 students registered themselves for the exams, out of which 7, 93,940 boys and 5,35,030 are girls. Last year the number was about 12, 57,893 and about 5.54% increase in the number of candidates is recorded this year. Previous year girls performed well than boys in class 10 exam results and the pass percentage was calculated 98.76%. In 2013, the results for Chennai region came up on 26 May 2013.
THE Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) was formed in the year 1962. It is one of the old board of education and comes under the guidance of Union Government of India. The board is there to conduct two major final examinations for class 10 and class 12 for All India School Certificate Examination. It also is set to conduct the AIEEE exams that are organized for admissions to different engineering and architecture undergraduate courses in several colleges.
