Tamil Nadu government has decided to bring all the schools which are affiliated to boards other than state boards would come under the Director of School Education which would further help in implementing the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act, 2009.
A petition was filed by A.V. Pandian claiming that the implementation should be made according to the RTE Act that is present nationwide throughout CBSE schools and those schools which are not functioning according to the norms and are functioning without recognition in the state should be booked under law. This would encourage schools to take steps to come under the umbrella of Director of School Education and function under the centralized body.
The bench of Chief Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and M. Sathyanarayanan of Madras High Court is looking after the PIL and has stated out that “learned counsel for the petitioner states that no further directions are required in this petition other than effective implementation of the same.”
