This year, the CBSE Class 10 exams were held from 01 March to 19 March 2014, for which, according to officials of CBSE, a total of 13, 25,627 students registered, which is an increase of 5.5 per cent from the last year’s record of 12.59 lakh students appered for the exam.
According to a news source, around 7.29 lakh students sat for the school-based 10 exams this year, whereas 5.96 lakhs took up the external Board exams.
Last year, the CBSE declared the Class 10 results on 27 May 2013, which recorded a pass percentage of 98.76, a marginal increase from the preceding year. Also, with a pass percentage of 98.94, girls outshone the boys who stood 98.64% pass rate.

It conducts final examinations for Classes 10 and 12 for the schools affiliated to it. Apart from this, the Board also conducts annually the All India Engineering Entrance Examinations and All India Pre-Medical Test for admission to undergraduate courses in engineering, architecture and medical colleges, respectively.
