According to officials of CBSE, a total of 13, 25,627 students registered for the Class 10 exam this year, which is an increase of 5.5 per cent from the last year’s record of 12.59 lakh students attempted for the exam. Among that, 7.29 lakh students took up the school-based exams, whereas 5.96 lakhs students appeared in the external Board exams.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is a Board of Education for public and private schools, under the Union Government of India. The CBSE conducts final examinations for Classes 10 and 12 for the schools affiliated to it.
Besides conducting secondary and senior secondary examinations, it also conducts annually the All India Engineering Entrance Examinations and All India Pre-Medical Test for admission to undergraduate courses in engineering, architecture and medical colleges, respectively.
