In the famous QS World University Rankings, the Delhi University has moved up 20 places from its previous year rankings. It has made its place through with the topmost Indian Universities in the lists which include the five IITs. The overall world ranking of DU was between the 441-451 slabs last year, which has come to the bracket of 421-430 in this year’s ranking.
Amidst the problems that the DU is facing regarding the Delhi University Teacher’s Association (DUTA) for its decisions on pension and promotion matters, DU has scored first place in India for ‘Employer Reputation’ while its world ranking remained 122 in the category. In the same category, The University of Mumbai has been ranked second in India.
After the five IITs, Delhi University has been ranked 196 by QS ranking, which is the highest for any Indian University after the IITs. DU has also remained at the top among the Indian universities when it comes to the field of Social Science and Management.
The QS World University Rankings take into account the research quality, graduate employment, student-staff ratios, teaching standards and the number of international students while rating and the rating is done from around 800 universities from all over the globe. The biggest among all single factors in the QS rankings remains its academic reputation. This is calculated by surveying more than 60,000 academics around the world, taking their opinion and discussing with them about the merit of their as well as other institutions.
