Like all the previous years, cut off of Delhi University (DU) has rose to a night high with computer science leading at 100% in IP College. All the other cut-offs of undergraduate courses too went quite high in the university as the first list got released on Wednesday.
At the College of Vocational Studies (CVS) and Indraprastha College for Women the cut-off marks for computer science rose to 100%, who have not studied physics, chemistry and mathematics in Class 12. At CVS the cut-off for computer science ranges from 95% to 100% while in IP it is between 97 to 100%.
For other courses like humanities, the cut off rose ranging from 0.5% to 10%. A few colleges under DU have set a cut off around 98% for economics and political science. Compared to last year, the cut off increase has more been for commerce and humanities subject. In some colleges, like Dyal Singh College, the cut-off has jumped to a staggering 12% for some courses. For economics at the Shri Ram College of Commerce and Lady Shri Ram the students need to have a score of 98.5% in their boards. This year Hindu College has set it at 98%.
The science courses saw the biggest jumps in cut offs ranging between 0.25% and 8%. Physics at Hindu College rose to 98% cut-off while BSc (Honours) in Zoology and Botany saw a swaggering increase of 7% from the last year. Most of the colleges for Mathematics (Honours) have set a cut-off more than 90%, with Hindu, Kirorimal College and LSR keeping it as high as 97.5%.
Sanskrit (Honours) has remained at the lowest in terms of aggregate cutoffs, but it too has rose by 10% from last year in most of the colleges. At LSR, Sanskrit was set to 55% last year, which saw a jump of 10% to be at 65% this year. The other BA programmes in the university remained as popular as ever. Though the maximum increase was registered to be only 3%, but the cut off of courses under the programme at top colleges were all above 90%, with LSR being the highest at 97%.
At Maitreyi College, the cut off for BCom(Pass) rose to 99% while it is set at 97.25 to 99.75% at Hansraj College. For B.Com (Honors) the highest cut off went as high as 98% for Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College, CVS and LSR.
