Feb 26, 2013 11:43 IST

Delhi University decided to allow those students, who were debarred from appearing in the examination, last year for lack of required attendance, to appear in the exams.
The University made the submission before the Delhi High Court in response to a petition filed by two students -- Vipin Singh Bansal and Harish Kumar of Dyal Singh College seeking quashing of the decision of the university and the college of not to promote them to the third semester (second year) of the undergraduate courses and not declaring their results for the third semester (second year) examinations in which they were allowed to appear.
The University, via a notification, dated February 18 has announced that “it will permit students who were unable to appear in the Ist or IInd annual examination in April / May 2012 due to lack of required attendance to simultaneously appear for the ensuing Ist / IInd / IIIrd annual examination, as the case may be. Modalities of internal assessment shall follow.”
With respect to students who appeared in their Ist or IInd annual examination in April / May 2012 and whose marks or results were declared but subsequently were not allowed to be promoted to Ist or IInd year due to lack of required attendance, the university shall permit promotion if the promotion requirements are satisfied.
