In response to the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) introduced by UGC, Delhi University will initiate it from the upcoming academic session. The Union Ministry of Human Resource Development has asked DU to implement it soon.
The University had earlier formed a seven member committee in December 2014 to work out the modalities for initiating CBCS. Even after the clearance of the proposal, the Ministry had asked for clarification from the VC Dinesh Singh and had instructed that it should not be implemented in haste. And the new communication has confirmed the expedition of the system.
Regarding the new communication, the HRD Ministry said that it is directed to reiterate the request of the University Grants Commission to quickly initiate action to address issues which have strong bearing on the proposed CBCS implementation and adoption of Credit Framework for Skill Development from the 2015 academic session.
