DR. Shastri, Dean of Law, Mody University addresses the National Seminar

    Prof. Satish C. Shastri, Dean FOL was invited as a Chief Guest in the Valedictory function of a two day seminar on 'Personal laws and Uniform Civil Code' organized by N.M. Law P.G. College, Hanumangarh on Dec 14 , 2014. On his arrival at the seminar, he was warmly welcome by Prof. Tayal, Principal of the host of the college. While addressing the Seminar, Prof. Shastri gave a new direction to the debate over the adoption of Uniform Civil Code in the country as enshrined in Article 44 of the Constitution, by reminding the audience that we have already got a Uniformity of the law by having a common criminal law in the form of IPC & Cr.P.C and also a common civil code by having a Civil procedure Code for all the countryman. He also said, that the foundation of our country lies on secularism and thus to have a common law for all the religion on personal issues might have serious repercussions in the society. The conference was also addressed by Prof. Jaswal and Dr. R.S.Solanki of the Mody University, who spoke on Constitutionality of Uniform Civil Code and Law of surrogacy respectively.
