University of Delhi conducted Joint Admission Test (DU JAT) and DU Entrance Test (DUET) for BMS/BBA (FIA) & B.A. (Hons.) Business Economic and for B.Tech, 5 yr Integrated Programme in Journalism, B.Sc. in PE, HE & Sports, Bachelor of Elementary Education and B.A. (Hons) in Humanities & Social Sciences respectively. DU JAT 2018 and DUET 2018 were conducted from June 17 to June 22, 2018. What is normalisation procedure of DU entrance exam based courses?
The normalisation procedure of DU entrance exam 2018 and JAT 2018 is the process of equating scores of in order to prepare the merit list of qualified candidates. The normalisation procedure is taken in to consideration so that only most qualified and eligible candidates can be shortlisted for final admission. As there are large number of candidates for DU JAT 2018 and DUET 2018, the equi-percentile method/normalisation procedure will be helpful for selecting candidates will meet minimum marks requirements for the examinations.

Also, DU has adopted normalisation procedure to make sure that DU JAT merit list 2018 and DUET 2018 merit list free of any discrepancy.
All about DU Undergraduate Entrance Exam and Joint Admission Test 2018
The normalisation procedure will be considering entrance exam conducted in different shifts for same UG course i.e. there will be a combined merit list for one course even if it was conducted in different shifts.
The merit list of DU JAT 2018 and DU Entrance Test 2018 will be available after the announcement of results only. The counselling of DU JAT 2018 and for other entrance test courses will be done only on basis of merit lists. The factors which affect the ranking in DU JAT merit list 2018 and DUET merit list 2018 will be as under –
- Number of candidates who appeared for the examination – Only those candidates who appeared for the entrance exam will be taken in to consideration and as the candidates who applied for the exam but did not/could not appear for the test are disqualified for admissions.

- Maximum marks obtained in examination
- Average marks obtained by candidates
DU JAT 2018 and DUET 2018 Marking Scheme for normalisation procedure –
The question paper of DU JAT 2018 and DU Entrance Test 2018 were based on –
Total Questions – 100 Multiple Choice Questions
Total Marks – 400 marks
Marking Scheme –
- Each question of both the question papers carried 4 marks.
- In case of wrong attempt, one mark will be deducted from the total marks allotted to the question.
- No marks will be allotted or deducted for the questions not attempted by candidates.
Tie-breaking in DU JAT merit list 2018 and DUET merit list 2018 –
There are chances of candidates obtaining same marks in the entrance exams. Therefore there can be tie in marks of two or more candidates and to resolve ties in the marks following method will be used –
- Higher marks obtained by candidates in relevant/main subject will be ranked higher in merit list
- Higher marks obtained by candidates in next relevant subject will be ranked higher in merit list
- Candidates older in age will be given preference
