DU third cut off still leaves vacant seats in many colleges, next list on 15 July

Jul 12, 2016 18:20 IST

With a marginal dip in the cut off marks the Delhi University has come up with the third cut-off list on Sunday 10 July, 2016. Most of the reputed colleges under Delhi University still have many seats left after the announcement of the third list. This has resulted in hopes from students for a fourth cut off list for most of the subjects in these top level colleges under the university.

At Shri Ram College for Commerce (SRCC), which is one of the most popular colleges under DU, the cut off for BA (Hons) Economics and B.Com (Hons) got reduced to 97.25%, which is a dip of .50% from the previous list. Many other top colleges saw a drop of .25% to 1& in different subjects and courses in major colleges under the university.

Many of the colleges still have seats available. At Hansraj College admission is still open for courses like English, Economics, History and B.Com (Hons). Similarly, at Hindu College admission in courses like Sociology, Philosophy and BA are ongoing, even after the third cut off list. At Kirori Mal College all BCom and BA (Hons) Political Science seats got filled after the second cut off list. For B.Com (Hons) though, there is a drop of .50% in the third cut off list, making it 96.50% for the college.

Off Campus college seats are filling real fast and colleges like Deshbandhu College and Mata Sundri College for Women are on the verge of closing their admissions for the year in many of the subjects. Gargi college seats are also filling quite fast for Botany, Chemistry and Physics (Hons) streams. Miranda House has closed admission for the Botany and B.Sc. Life Science courses.

The Delhi University had earlier announced that it would announce maximum five cut off lists, thus there is still hope left for students for further cut off lists in many subjects. Earlier there used to be 10-12 lists released by the university, which tend to take a lot of time to get finished, affecting the curriculum dates and the schedule. The students, who have the requisite cut off marks from the third list, would get three days’ time to confirm their admissions in the respective colleges according to their choices of subjects. They need to undergo document verification and fees payment in this timespan as the fourth cut off list could only get released after the admission process for the third list gets over.
