The easiest yet the most difficult thing to do (except you are a 2 year old baby) is to have a sound sleep. In fact, you don’t need to do anything to sleep and that’s where the problem gets bigger. This is because, we are never at rest or calm from inside, and learning the art to stay still and relaxed is the need of the hour. After you cross the threshold of adolescence, the mind gets no rest at all as the bubbles of thought continuously hover like the waves in an ocean.

In such a situation, where the mind is always chirping, how can the body feel relaxed and calm? Don’t worry? Having a sound sleep is not a rocket science, and by following few things, you too can sleep like a baby and wake up next morning fully refreshed.

Make this a practice to wear light and soft cloths while sleeping at night. Your wardrobe must include nightwear like sleeping gowns as this will relax your body and mind, and will help you to sleep calmly. This is recommended because nightwear clothing allows the circulation of blood smoothly and signals your brain to rest, eventually helping you to enjoy deep sleep at night.

It’s the law of nature that as it gets darker during night, you tend to feel sleepy. This happens due to the secretion of a chemical named melatonin in brain during pitch darkness at night, eventually helping you to sleep peacefully. Therefore, make sure to switch of all the bright lights in your room, and keep your smartphone or any other light emitting gadgets aside while you sleep. Make sure to use dim night lamps and refrain from using mobile phone one hour before bedtime.

Focus on your dinner

First of all, come out from the age-old myth that consuming hard drinks can help you to sleep. This is a misconception, and rather than doing any good, it affects your body and makes it prone to anxiety and stress. Other than this, try to have light and non-spicy diet (which is easily digestible) 2 hours before bedtime. This will give your body enough time to function properly and keep everything in control while you go to sleep. So, if you want to have a deep sleep during night, take care of your diet, and everything will fall in the right place.

Sound of silence

Yes, you read that right! Any kind of disturbance such as loud music or chatting will not let you have sound sleep. So, before you plan to sleep, you should ensure to cut off all the sounds and create a silent atmosphere around your bedroom to enjoy the essence of relaxation and deep sleep.

Napping around

Studies have found that having frequent naps during daytime may benefit you to relax for some time, however, after a while it may your ability to sleep at night, the time when it is needed most. Researchers have said that if you could stop this practice of taking regular naps, it will enhance your ability to have a wonderful sound sleep at night. So, take care of it!

Bonus Point: Daily meditation for 10 minutes along-with a brisk walk in the broad sunlight for 5 to 10 minutes and breakfast rich in Vitamin B6 help in improving the quality of sleep.

Have a sound sleep and walk up every day with vigor and freshness.
