    The storm of Common Admission Test, CAT 2017 is now over, and suddenly a deep silence is hovering over in a mysterious way. Now, it’s time for the results, which is increasing the level of curiosity among every candidate that appeared for CAT exam 2017. Until the results are out, exam analysis and speculative cut off marks have floated around the internet like the heap of ants on a piece of sweet. Everyone is busy in analyzing scores and the probability of being called by IIMs based on the speculative cut offs marks circulated by many online sources. Meanwhile, the data provided by such sources are too confusing and difficult to understand.     We monitored the trend, interviewed candidates and ran a qualitative survey to find out that the Logical Reasoning and Data Interpretation sections were a bit tough to solve as compared to the quantitative aptitude section. On an average, this applies to most of the candidates who appeared for the exam.     Slot-1 Analysis –

    After closely monitoring the paper and taking insights from candidates appeared in Slot 1 exam, it was found that CAT Slot 1 exam 2017 was no shocker as it was quite similar to the pattern followed by CAT in its last year paper. And, it was easy to solve as well. The questions reading comprehension section in Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension and Quantitative Aptitude section were relatively easier to solve and difficulty level was moderate if not simple. On an average, most of the candidates found the Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning paper to be quite tough in the slot 1 CAT exam 2017. After a thorough analysis of the trend, we came to the conclusion that a score in between 145-150 and 150-155 would land students in the range of 98 and 99 percentiles range respectively.

    Slot 2 Analysis –

    As it was observed that level of CAT slot-2 exam 2017 was more or less similar to Slot-1 exam. Therefore, one should not put it on destiny to figure out the path of excellence. As in slot-1, the reading comprehension and quantitative aptitude were the easiest sections while the data interpretation and logical reasoning was the toughest section to solve. Nevertheless, many sources have confirmed that the CAT exam in slot-2 fell on the easier side, as per their own evaluations. For some, the data interpretation section was easy too in this slot. As per the closet observation, it may be said that a marks anywhere in-between 156-160 could fetch you that prestigious 99 percentile value.

    After a thorough analysis, it may be said that the total estimate of a score in-between 154-162 should place a candidate in the 99 percentile range. CAT Results 2017 are expected to be released in the month January.
