Department of School Education and Literacy, Government of India has introduced the scholarship scheme with an intent to establish an enabling environment to reduce the drop-outs and to promote the enrolment of girl children, mainly belonging to SC or ST communities in secondary schools.
Last date to submit applications is October 31, 2017. To check the eligibility and application procedures follow the proceedings:
- The applicant must be an unmarried girl, below 16 years of age as on March 31
- Candidate must be enrolled in class 9, belonging to SC or ST community.
- Candidates who have passed class 8 exam from Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas, irrespective of whether they belong to SC, ST or not, and enroll in class 9 in a State Government, Government-aided, and Local Body schools are eligible to apply.
INR 3000 will be deposited in the name of eligible unmarried girls as fixed deposits upon enrolment in class 9 who are entitled to withdraw it along with the interest on clearing Class 10 and attaining 18 years of age.
Applications are attended online only at national scholarship portal.
Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, Government of India ensures timely disbursement of Scholarships to students by providing a common portal for various scholarship schemes of central and state Governments to create a transparent database of scholars.
