Group Mathematical Olympiad to be organized by CBSE

    CBSE is all set to organize Group Mathematical Olympiad (GMO) this year. The Olympiad will be conducted in different parts of the country on 07 December 2014 and students studying in class IX to XI can participate in the competition.

    The process of selection will be through screening test and thus, every school has to select five students to appear in this test. The selected candidates will have to pay a meager amount of Rs 100 as an entry fees for the examination.

    Each state will have two venues where the Olympiad will be conducted according to the convenience of students. The participants of the Olympiad will be judged on the basis of their knowledge in various topics such as on algebra, geometry, number theory, combinatories etc. Around 30 students will be selected by CBSE on pan India basis who will appear in the Indian National Mathematical Olympiad conducted by NBHM.

    The examination will be conducted to get an idea about the level of talent in students in the subject. The examination will be of three hours from 1pm to 4pm at the centers selected by CBSE.

    The entry fees for the examination will be in the form of demand draft in favour of the venue, school, principal or co-coordinator. The last date of applications for the examination is 05 November 2014.
