Gujarat is likely to get its first internationally recognized industry-specific university at Vapi in south Gujarat. The university to be named Plast India International University will be set up in collaboration with the University of Massachusetts Lowell, US. The announcement was made on 05 February 2015 by Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel at an industry event.
To set up the university, Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) will allot 40 acres of land at concessional rates. This international university is being aimed at creating skilled workforce for the requirement of the plastic industry.
Not only is this, but the state government of Gujarat also ready to set up Centre of Excellence for automobile sector in cooperation with Central Institute of Plastic Engineering and Technology (CIPET) and MS University. Even vocational training centre for tribal youth in Dharampur region of Valsad district will be set up by the government in recent times.
