Answer: Both the terms, aerospace engineering and aeronautical engineering are used in same context. But literally aerospace is a broader term which is divided into two major and overlapping branches: aeronautical engineering and astronautic engineering.
There are several institutes/colleges in India which provide aeronautical engineering courses at the graduate, post graduate and PhD level. Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) offers distance education programme in aeronautical engineering. It has started a 4-year full time BTech Aerospace Engineering course in collaboration with Aeronautical Engineering & Research Organization (AERO), Pune. Diploma courses in Aeronautical Engineering are also available. For this one can get admission in a state level polytechnic institutes. List of reputed institutes/colleges in India for aeronautical engineering courses are following:
1. Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology
2. Indian Institute of Aeronautical Engineering (IIAE)
3. Indian Institute of Technology Mumbai
4. Aerospace Engineering Universities in Kanpur
