Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) starts off applications for its fish products technology program, the one-year diploma course. The aim of the course is to instill vocational and entrepreneurial skills particularly among rural youth and the economically lower sections to widen employment opportunities.
The minimum time period of the course is 1 years although candidates have a provision to complete the course within four years. The aspirant should posses 10+2 or intermediate or Bachelor Preparatory Program (BPP) from IGNOU. The course fee is Rs 9,000 and offered in English medium.
The candidates belonging to rural area and come under economically weaker section can avail 50 percent concession on the admission fees, valid income proof is needed. The prospectus is available at regional centres in Rs 200 that aspirants can get by paying the amount in person or by sending Demand Draft of Rs 250 in favour of IGNOU, New Delhi, to registrar (Student Registration Division), Indira Gandhi National Open University , Maidan Garhi, New Delhi-68. The last date of receipt of admission applications is 31 July 2013.
The program offers to skilled manpower requirements of the food processors, skilled workers/ food processing departments of the states/ technicians in the food processing industries, NGO functionaries/ central, rural educators, farmers, quality control implementation agencies/ trainers, entrepreneurs, post harvest etc.
